‘Teach with heart’ Retiring teachers, faculty honored

Danbury High ninth graders will have new experience
DANBURY — Next year, all freshmen at Danbury High School will be on teams in classrooms on the fourth floor. A staff for the grade level, led by assistant principal Dan Donovan , will include three guidance counselors, four reading teachers, four special education teachers and 7 teams of teachers of math, English, Social Studies and science.

Keeping people in their homes is Wallensak’s passion
Karen Wallensak spends a lot of time listening to sad stories from people who fear that the next knock at the door will be the sheriff with an order to get out. “People don’t come here because things are going well,” she said.
