Is it better to be happy and poor or rich and miserable?

I want to major in anthropology but my parents want me to be an engineer. They want me to make $$. I realize that I won’t be employed with just a bachelor’s and I’m fine with that as long as I can study something I really like. I hate engineering, harcore mathematics, and thermodynamics…

  1. Find something that you can do that gives a lot of salary, but is still something you like doing!

If I loved history and i was majoring in that, even though I loved what I did, I would be miserable because of having to struggle with bills, gas, insurance, light bills, clothes, food,, and etc..

But if I were to studying “english” which relates to history, then I could go to graduate school and work for big movie companies!!

Find something in between! :) Even double major if you have to! :)

  2. engineering is fun stuff

most people try to get rich to be happy, if you are happy without the money then its merely a contrivance.

go with what will make you happiest, but things are not always as they seem, anthropology might not be what you thought it was

  3. Go ahead and complete a degree program in anthropology.

Once you’ve graduated, you may be surprised by possible job prospects available to you then.

Remember…..technological innovation is taking place so rapidly in today’s world, some of the jobs that will be available in a few years have not yet even been created.

You could, for example, become involved in developing web sites related to the study of anthropology.
    :-)

So, study the subject you enjoy. It’ll bring you far more satisfaction in life.

  4. Understand where your parents are coming from, they want you to be independent and not rely on them forever, but at the same time you need to do things you like. Find a major that is interesting and that will also make you marketable. It’s important to go to college but at the same time you should also be employable as well.
